AUTO ROAD TESTING

Road testing is done in two parts

1

Basic control skills - the parking portion of the test.

All applicants are required to pass the (basic control skills) parking portion of the test in order to move on to the (on road) driving portion.

2

On Road Driving consists of a little bit of everything.

Expect urban driving, rural driving, expressway, lane changes, left turns, right turns, and everyday hazards that are found on the road. (such as construction zones, pedestrians, schools, adverse weather, and other drivers)

All road test applicants are encouraged to have at least 50 hours of driving experience before or attempting the road test.

Applicants Under 18

  • Michigan graduated license from Secretary of State. (must have level 1 license for at least 6 months to be eligible for the test)

  • Segment 2 completion certificate (can be digital)

  • 50 hour driving log.(40 daytime, 10 night. Can be digital)

  • Parent or guardian.(no other riders allowed)

  • $70 upon reservation online

  • Must respond to secure documents form link in the conformation e-mail or fill out the documents form on the book now page after booking appointment day and time!

Applicants 18+

  • Temporary instructional permits from the Secretary of State. This must be the authentic document no copies or pictures on phone will be accepted! (must have 30 days or past eligibility date)
  • Photo ID. (any photo ID or identifying paperwork works)
  • $70 upon reservation online
  • Must respond to secure documents form link in the conformation e-mail or fill out the documents form on the book now page after booking appointment day and time!

Vehicle Information

All applicants will need to provide a good working vehicle including:

  • Headlights
  • Tail Lights
  • Turn Signals
  • Windshield Wipers
  • Brake Lights (including center brake light)
  • Working Horn
  • Windshields FREE of Cracks
  • Valid Insurance (can be digital)
  • Valid Registration (can be digital)

Refund Information

Document Failure:
  • Documents are missing and/or unreadable (e.g missing insurance, registration, and/or permits, etc.)
  • Please note you will be charged a $40 rescheduling fee for document failure
Equipment Failure:
  • Vehicle not up to the standards of the Michigan Department of State. (see study guide)
  • Please note you will be charged a $40 rescheduling fee for equipment failure

No REfunds will be provided if:

Basic Skills Failure:
  • 7 points or more in the parking lot (see study guide)
On-Road Failure:
  • 26 points or more and/or automatic failure (see study guide)
No-Show:
  • More than 15 minutes late to appointment time or failure to appear (please be sure to cancel at least 24 hours in advance of your appointment! Inside 24 hours we cannot reschedule or refund any money)
FAQ's

Frequently Asked Questions

We charge $70 for the test and $30 for the rental car if needed.
We use 4 door midsize vehicles, similar to Chevy impala or Chevy equinox.
NO REFUNDS – If you fail the test for any reason you will not be given a refund. It is very important that you are preparing for the test by practicing and making sure that you have all of your paperwork and equipment in good working order.
Passing score is 6 points or less. A score of 7 points or more is a fail on the (basic control skills) parking portion of the test.
No. If you fail the (basic control skills) parking portion of the road test the road test is over and you are not allowed to drive on the road.
You can take the test again the next day. However it’s always a good idea to get some practice before attempting another road test.
25 points or less is a passing score on the road portion of the road test, 26 points or more would be a failing score.
Yes. There is a list of automatic failures on the road portion of the road test in the road skill study guide.
Document failure is when you fail to provide the correct documentation in order to perform your road test. If you come to the test and do not have the proper paperwork it will be considered a document failure.
When the vehicle that you bring is not in good working order working order. (Like a brake light, tail light, head light, or blinker not working etc.)
